  • New Ministry !  St. Peter's "Little Cupboard"

We are excited about our new ministry! Our Little Cupboard is located at our church gates on Second Street and was blessed by Bishop-elect Kevin S. Brown on November 6, 2017.  The cupboard will hold donated items for those in need--hats, scarves, toiletries and canned items. This ministry has been successful around the country and we are proud to be making this outreach ministry available to those in need in our community.

    Nearby Communities

When cold weather approaches, the ministry collects gently-used or new coats, hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves for the Community Resource Center, Home of the Brave, Outreach Ministry Church in Lincoln, and Primeros Pasos. This year's donations were delivered on November 10, 2017 by Chris' Feed the Children team.

  • Angel Tree

    Nearby Communities

Our Angel Tree ministry begins the weekend of November 11, 2017. "Angels" will be given out at all services. In 2012, the Angel Tree program began with 40 Angels which has now grown to 170 gifts! Christmas gifts will be collected from members of St. Peter’s and the Kindness Committee of the Villages of Herring Creek (a new supporter!). The gifts are given to needy children and adults at Primeros Pasos and the Community Resource Center. Donors take an angel from a tree which has information about the need of the recipient. The donor buys the gift, wraps it, places the angel on it so one knows who should receive it, and takes it to the church.

  • School Supplies & Book Drive

    Nearby Communities

Every summer, school supplies and books are collected for the children at Primeros Pasos and the children who are fed during the summer food program.

COMMUNITY  OUTREACH

  • Primeros Pasos

    Georgetown, Delaware

Feed the Children Heart and Soul has grown from volunteering nine months [October through June] to year-round in this multicultural preschool.  Volunteers prepare a home cooked meal once a week for up to 60 children, as well as snacks throughout the summer. In the beginning, the ministry provided weekend backpacks of food for eight of the children in food-insecure households during the school year. This past year, Chris cooperated with the Delaware Food Bank, arranging for 40 children to receive backpacks of food.

Primeros Paso has now moved to a new, more spacious facility in Georgetown with a kitchen, making it possible for our volunteers to provide two meals and two snacks for each child, ages one to five.  Volunteers are needed to cook on some Wednesdays from 9-11:30.

For more information or if you would be willing to spend a few hours helping to cook, please contact Karen Kohn at 302-947-0278 or by email.

  • Cape Henlopen Community Bookmobile

    Rehoboth and Lewes, Delaware

Chris partners with the Dept. of Education’s summer food service program to coordinate books with meals. She and her volunteers travel with the bookmobile and serve food to children, 18 and under, in three underserved communities in the Rehoboth and Lewes area. Volunteers interact with the 60 children participating in this food program by playing games, reading or conversing. View article featured in Cape Gazette dated September 20, 2017.
